This year, 2021, the Chinese New Year falls on February 12th. 2021 is the year of the Ox, and with that in mind, we have compiled a list and some links to help you celebrate this brand new year online!

Asia Society hosts virtual celebration:

You can join here for free and take part in lots of celebrations, craft making classes and cookery shows. The festival runs from 12th to the 26th February, so watch that space!

Chinese Historical Society of America Children’s Program:

The society will be hosting a children’s festival with story-telling and authors readings. This will take place on February 13th. Find more information here.

Head to YouTube:

The site has plenty of videos and pieces from all over the world to be watched at leisure. You can see beautiful celebrations to bring in the Year of the Ox. Here is one of our favourite videos of the incredible Lion Dance.

East Asia Film Festival Ireland:

The film festival has partnered with Dublin Chinese Lunar New Year and the IFI for a screening of Fagara from the 11th to the 13th of February. Tickets cost €7.50, and the screening will be though the IFI’s website.

Dublin Lunar New Year:

The group has put together over 30 events for the festival, running from the 9th to the 20th of February. To see the full catalogue, click here.

Chinese New Year Greetings:

To learn some ways to give a Chinese new year greeting, simply follow this link, and practise your pronunciations!

Hopefully, there is enough here to keep you all occupied, get you curious about other cultures, and also help you celebrate a new year of hope and joy. We here at the UCD International Student’s Association wish you all this and more! Happiness and Prosperity!

新年快乐
